Ki-woo Kim (Choi Woo-Shik) can be a young man living in poverty from the slums of a nameless Southern region Korean city with his household – father Ki-taek Kim (Song Kang-ho), mother Chung-sook Kim (Jang Hye-jin), and sister Ki-jung (Park So-dam). The family lives in a backyard unit where they battle finding a Wi-Fi signal for you to sneak into in order to get access to the Internet to watch TV, get fumigated on, and have to watch adult men urinating in the alley outside the house their home. They make ends meet up with by doing menial tasks for instance folding pizza boxes – and even then, get criticized by the pizza employees regarding messing up the boxes.
